Provincial Human Development Index by Provinces, HDI and Period

Table ID: 3E3D2080

Indicator Human Development Index (HDI)
Definition The Human Development Index (HDI) is a summary measure of human development. It measures the average achievement in a country in three basic dimensions of human development: longevity or a long and healthy life, access to knowledge, and a decent standard of living. These dimensions are measured by a set of indicators that are aggregated into indices.
Method of Computation "Before the HDI is calculated, an index needs to be created first for each of the three dimensions, i.e., health, education, income. To calculate these dimension indices, minimum and maximum values (goalposts) are chosen for each underlying indicator. The index for each dimension is then expressed as a value between 0 and 1 by applying the general formula. Once the dimension indices have been calculated, the HDI is determined by computing the geometric mean of the three dimension indices."
