Notes:

[1] For the new series, the monthly average farmgate price by region per commodity is computed as the arithmetic mean of the average prices of the provinces. For the national level, the monthly average farmgate price per commodity is the arithmetic mean of the average prices of the regions.

For the old data series, the monthly average farmgate price by region per commodity is computed as weighted monthly average farmgate prices of the provinces of the region, using as weights the volume of production from the various agricultural production surveys conducted by PSA. Similarly, the monthly average farmgate price per commodity at the national level is computed as weighted monthly average farmgate prices of the regions, using as weights the volume of production of the regions.

[2] The source of data for the new series is taken from the results of the Retail Price Survey (RPS) of Commodities for the generation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The source of data for the old series is taken from the survey entitled “Retail Price Survey (RPS) of Selected Agricultural Commodities”. However, this survey is discontinued in February 2021 as part of the Office’s thrust of rationalizing the surveys conducted by the PSA.

The data of the two series are not comparable due to the differences in terms of the frequency of collections and covered sample markets.
